Today Sankofa Adventures takes you through the capital city of Ghana, Accra. We will visit the ‘Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum’. This place is dedicated to the prominent Ghanaian leader Kwame Nkrumah who made Ghana independent in 1957. The mausoleum houses the bodies of Kwame Nkrumah and his wife Fathia Nkrumah. After we have visited the mausoleum we will continue the tour to the Black Star Square, also known as Independence Square. Fun fact: The independence square is the second largest city square in the world after the Tiananmen Square in Beijng, China.
We will continue the tour to the Osu Castle. Osu Castle is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean’s Gulf of Guinea. The Castle was build in 1652. The Castle has a lot of history to teach you and it shows you some breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean. We will finish the tour at the Accra Arts Center. Here you will be amazed with the crafts people made. You can buy some nice souvenirs and test your negotiation qualities.

The state of having mixed feelings comes from spending a few hours in a castle where you learn about the history of the slave trade and how Africans were send to America and the Caribbean 400 years ago. High feelings of empathy will probably surround you at the moment you walk through this tour. On contrary ,Sankofa Adventures will give you feelings of adrenaline and excitement at the Kakum National Park. We will walk across all seven rope bridges and hopefully spot a few animals in the forest.

Escape the busy city and spend a day in nature. Sankofa Adventures wants to take you along to the Boti falls and the Umbrella Rock for an active day in the jungle. Boti falls is a twin waterfall located at Boti in Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The locals refer to these twin falls as female and male. During raining season they come together as one to mate. When coming along on this trip in January, you will see both individual waterfalls. After having this amazing experience, we will do a hike to the Umbrella Rock. It is about an hour in the rocky forest.
Ps: Bring your swimming clothes with you. You can swim at the falls.
